Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Anti-Aubergine affinity-purified antibody is directed against Drosophila Aubergine protein. BLAST analysis suggests limited cross-reactivity with Aubergine proteins from other sources.
Target Information
Aubergine (Sting) is a Drosophila protein involved in germ-line development and RNA interference (RNAi).
Drosophila melanogaster possesses a robust innate immune system that responds to bacterial, fungal, and viral infections through humoral and cellular activities similar to those in other animals.
RNA interference (RNAi) acts as a gene regulation and defense mechanism by suppressing gene expression via targeted RNA degradation. This process is directed by exogenous dsRNA (cleaved into siRNAs) or endogenous miRNAs.
In plants, RNAi functions as an antiviral immune response system. In Drosophila, several core RNAi pathway genes have been reported, including piwi, vig, aubergine (aub), armitage (armi), Rm62, r2d2, and Argonaute2 (AGO2).
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
