Target Information

Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight range of 230–250 kDa. In the extracellular matrix of connective tissues and vessels, fibronectin exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein forming high molecular mass polymers. It is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling and also circulates as a soluble plasma protein.

Fibronectin is composed of repeating modules forming domains that interact with fibronectin itself, other matrix components (e.g., collagen, heparin), and cell surface receptors (e.g., integrins). It plays key roles in cell adhesion, migration, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. Elevated fibronectin expression, particularly in non-small cell lung carcinoma, is associated with enhanced tumorigenicity and resistance to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. The fibronectin gene undergoes alternative splicing, potentially generating up to 20 transcript variants.
