Target Information

GPR54 (also known as KISS1R) is a galanin-like G protein-coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1.
This receptor is involved in endocrine regulation and the onset of puberty. It is expressed in various human tissues including brain regions, placenta, pancreas, spinal cord, and at lower levels in spleen, leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, intestine, stomach, lung, and kidney.
In rats, expression is observed in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions such as the hypothalamus, hippocampus, cortex, and striatum. ESTs have been isolated from normal placenta and kidney cancer libraries.
