Target Information
RBM35A, also known as ESRP2, is an mRNA splicing factor that, together with its related protein RBM35A (ESRP1), coordinates an epithelial cell-type-specific splicing program. Both RBM35B and RBM35A regulate posttranscriptional expression of genes such as FGFR2, CD44, CTNND1, and ENAH by affecting protein translation via the 5′ UTRs of mRNAs. These proteins act as global regulators of epithelial regulatory networks. Loss of this ESRP-regulated splicing program induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition-associated morphological changes.
