This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ST2.

Target Information

IL-33R, also known as ST2, is a receptor for IL-33 and a member of the IL-1 receptor family of innate receptors. Its extracellular domain consists of three Ig-like domains that interact with the co-receptor IL-1RAcP and ligand IL-33. IL-33 binding activates adaptor proteins (MyD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, TRAF6), leading to NF-κB and MAPK pathway activation and the release of cytokines such as IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-13.

Two main isoforms of IL-33R exist:

• ST2L: membrane-bound form, can be released by proteolytic cleavage
• ST2S: soluble form acting as a decoy receptor

IL-33R is primarily expressed by mast cells, basophils, and eosinophils, and in mice, also by ILC2 and Th2 cells. IL-33R signaling is implicated in immune conditions such as allergies, arthritis, atherosclerosis, and sepsis.
