Target Information
CYP2C9 belongs to the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These proteins are monooxygenases that catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. CYP2C9 localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum, and its expression is induced by rifampin. It metabolizes various xenobiotics, including phenytoin, tolbutamide, ibuprofen, and S-warfarin.
