EMSY is a transcriptional regulator that may interact with a chromatin remodeling complex to modify chromatin structure. Its interaction with BRCA2 indicates a potential role in DNA repair. EMSY may also function as part of a histone H3-specific methyltransferase complex mediating ligand-dependent transcriptional activation by nuclear hormone receptors.
Diseases associated with EMSY include sporadic breast cancer and breast cancer.
