Target Information
ROR gamma, a NR1 Thyroid Hormone-Like receptor, influences thymopoiesis, bone metabolism, T-cell apoptosis, and lymphoid organogenesis.
It promotes thymocyte survival by activating Bcl-x(L) expression and is essential for lymph node and Peyer’s patch development.
The thymus-specific isoform ROR gamma(t) inhibits Fas ligand expression and cytokine secretion in immature thymocytes.
ROR gamma binds as a monomer to response elements with a single GGTCA motif preceded by a 6 bp AT-rich sequence.
Expression is observed in mouse thymus, adipose, bone, skeletal muscle, liver, kidney, and in human skeletal muscle.
ESTs have been identified in various human tissue libraries, including cancerous and normal tissues.
ROR gamma(t) (RORgt) is an isoform of RORC.
