Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MyoD1.
Target Information
The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog myf3) can convert various normal and neoplastic cells into muscle cells or activate muscle-specific genes. The regulatory domain of MyoD includes a 70-amino-acid region containing a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif. Other genes with similar HLH domains include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4, herculin).
