Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, canine, human, and mouse based on 100% sequence homology.
It specifically recognizes the ~68–70 kDa PAK phosphorylated at Thr402. Immunolabeling can be blocked by lambda-phosphatase treatment.
Target Information
In mammals, several isoforms of p21-Activated Protein Kinases (PAKs) have been identified:
- α-PAK (PAK-1) and β-PAK (PAK-3) are mostly brain-specific.
- γ-PAK (PAK-2) is ubiquitously expressed.
Mutations in the PAK-3 gene are associated with X-linked mental retardation. PAK-3 plays a key role in synapse formation and plasticity in the hippocampus and is involved in regulating cell shape, motility, and cell death.
Autophosphorylation of Thr402 is essential for activation of PAK.
