Product Specific Information

This antibody shows weak cross-reactivity with K20 di-methylated histone H4, but does not react with histone H3 or mono- or unmethylated K20 histone 4.
Predicted to react with Xenopus laevis, Arabidopsis thaliana, Drosophila melanogaster, and mammals.
Predicted molecular weight: 11 kDa

Target Information

Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of eukaryotic chromatin. Two molecules each of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 form an octamer around which ~146 bp of DNA is wrapped, forming nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes to compact chromatin into higher-order structures.
The H4 gene is intronless, encodes a histone H4 family member, and contains a palindromic termination element instead of a polyA tail. It is located in the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
