Target Information
HnRNP A1 belongs to the A/B subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins form complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) and are involved in pre-mRNA processing, metabolism, and transport. While primarily nuclear, some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP A1 contains two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and is one of the most abundant core proteins in hnRNP complexes, localized to the nucleoplasm. It is exported from the nucleus bound to mRNA and rapidly re-imported.
