Mouse anti–Guinea Pig CD8 antibody, clone CT6, reacts with guinea pig CD8 present on cytotoxic T-cells.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family involved in T cell signal transduction, differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with the T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC-I molecules.
It is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes by CD8 triggers recruitment of Lck kinase, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs play a key role in pathogen and tumor cell clearance, with differentiation enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
