Target Information
B4GALT2는 type II membrane-bound glycoprotein으로, donor substrate UDP-galactose에 대한 특이성을 가지며, β1,4 결합으로 Gal을 GlcNAc, Glc, Xyl 등의 수용체 당에 전달합니다. 각 β4GalT는 다양한 glycoconjugate 및 saccharide 구조의 생합성에 고유한 기능을 갖습니다.
Golgi apparatus로 단백질을 유도하는 N-terminal hydrophobic signal sequence를 포함하며, 이 신호 서열은 절단되지 않고 transmembrane anchor로 작용합니다.
β4GalTs는 서열 유사성에 따라 다음 네 그룹으로 분류됩니다:
- β4GalT1/β4GalT2
- β4GalT3/β4GalT4
- β4GalT5/β4GalT6
- β4GalT7
이 효소는 glycolipids 및 glycoproteins에서 N-acetyllactosamine을 합성하며, α-lactalbumin에 의해 기질 특이성이 영향을 받지만, 젖샘 조직에서는 발현되지 않습니다.
