Target Information
BAX는 Bcl-2 패밀리의 구성원으로, 세포자멸사(apoptosis) 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Bcl-2가 항-세포자멸성 단백질로 알려진 반면, BAX는 세포자멸을 촉진하는 기능을 가집니다.
BAX와 Bcl-2의 다양한 아이소폼은 서로 간의 호모 및 헤테로다이머화를 통해 세포자멸 조절에 관여합니다.
Bax 유전자는 Bax α(21 kDa)와 Bax β(24 kDa) 두 가지 주요 아이소폼을 암호화하며, 두 아이소폼 모두 BH1, BH2, BH3 도메인을 포함합니다. Bax β는 독특한 카복실 말단을 가지며, 소수성 막관통 도메인이 없습니다.
Bcl-2 역시 여러 아이소폼으로 발현되며, Bcl-2 β는 α형보다 짧고 고유한 C-말단을 가집니다.
BAX의 과발현은 세포사멸을 유도하며, BCL-2 관련 단백질과의 헤테로다이머 형성도 가능합니다.
