Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for the ~180 kDa 2B subunit from rat, mouse, and human.
Storage and Reconstitution:
- Store lyophilized antibody at –20°C or below for over one year of full activity.
- Reconstitute using 50 µL PBS (pH 7.4) to yield a 0.2 mg/mL solution.
- For storage at 0–4°C, add sodium azide to a final concentration of 2 mM.
- For long-term storage, aliquot and freeze at –20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
NMDAR2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors. These receptors are involved in long-term potentiation, which enhances synaptic transmission efficiency and contributes to memory and learning.
NMDAR plays roles in neuronal development and has been implicated in central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death.
Overexpression of the NR2B subunit correlates with improved learning and memory, while aged, memory-impaired animals show NR2B deficiencies.
Phosphorylation at Tyr1472 may increase NMDAR expression at synapses, contributing to synaptic plasticity.
NMDAR2B forms a heterotrimer composed of NR1, NR2, and NR3 subunits.
Diseases associated with NMDAR2B dysfunction include epileptic encephalopathy and autosomal dominant 6-related mental retardation.
