TAPT1 유전자는 고도로 보존된 추정 막단백질을 암호화합니다. 마우스의 TAPT1 변이체는 축골격의 후방-전방 변형을 유도하며, 이는 homeobox C8 유전자 변이체의 표현형과 유사합니다. TAPT1은 homeobox C8 하위에서 외부 패턴 정보를 전달하여 축골격 발달에 관여하는 것으로 제안됩니다. 또한 대체 스플라이싱된 전사체 변형이 보고되었으나, 그 생물학적 타당성은 아직 확인되지 않았습니다.
