Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV, adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, as well as on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial cells.
CD26 is involved in T-cell activation, cell adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins (e.g., fibronectin, collagens), and HIV infection.
It is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and the T-cell activation antigen CD26.
Alterations in CD26 peptidase activity are associated with malignant transformation, with enzymatic activity increasing with tumor grade.
Changes in CD26 density have been observed in circulating monocytes and CD4+ T cells in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
