Target Information
The protein encoded by the MAG gene is a type I membrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is involved in the process of myelination and functions as a lectin that binds to sialylated glycoconjugates, mediating myelin-neuron interactions. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
