Target Information
eIF5A is an mRNA-binding protein involved in translation elongation. It plays a role in mRNA turnover, actin dynamics, and cell cycle progression. Also implicated in stress response and maintenance of cell wall integrity. Functions with syntenin (SDCBP) as a regulator of TP53/p53-dependent apoptosis and TNF-alpha-mediated apoptosis. Mediates polyamine effects on neuronal process extension and survival, and may be important for brain development and skeletal muscle stem cell differentiation. Acts as a cellular cofactor for HTLV-1 Rex and HIV-1 Rev proteins, essential for retroviral mRNA export.
