Target Information
SIP1는 SMN 복합체(Survival of Motor Neuron complex)의 구성 단백질 중 하나로, SMN 단백질 및 여러 gemin 단백질과 함께 존재합니다. SMN 복합체는 핵 내 ‘gems’(gemini of coiled bodies)로 불리는 소핵 구획에 위치하며, spliceosomal snRNPs의 조립과 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱에 필수적입니다. SIP1은 SMN과 직접 상호작용하며 SMN 복합체 형성에 필요합니다. 마우스에서 SIP1 유전자를 제거한 경우 snRNP 조립이 저해되고 운동 뉴런 변성이 나타났습니다. 그러나 SIP1 mRNA를 억제한 경우 정상적인 운동 축삭을 보였고, SMN mRNA를 억제한 경우 비정상적인 축삭 성장 양상을 보여 SIP1이 SMN 복합체 외에서도 추가적인 역할을 가질 가능성이 있습니다.
