Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by antigen-specific affinity chromatography. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter genes regulate dietary cholesterol retention in the body. ABCG8, highly expressed in liver and intestine, cooperates with ABCG5 to limit intestinal absorption and promote biliary excretion of sterols. Mutations in this transporter can cause sterol accumulation and lead to atherosclerosis or sitosterolemia, a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperabsorption of sterols and impaired biliary excretion.
