GPR17은 G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) 계열의 orphan receptor로, 중추신경계에서 oligodendrocyte 분화 및 수초화(myelination)에 관여합니다. 뇌, 신장, 심장, 제대정맥 내피세포 등에서 발현되며, uracil nucleotides 및 cysteinyl leukotrienes에 대한 dual specificity를 가집니다. G(i) 단백질을 통해 adenylyl cyclase를 억제하며, 허혈 후 뉴클레오타이드 및 leukotriene에 의한 뇌 손상 매개 가능성이 제시됩니다.
