Target Information
The SIRT2 protein (also known as Sirtuin for Silent Mating Type Information 2-Homolog) is a NAD-dependent deacetylase (NDAC) involved in gene silencing, cell cycle regulation, and DNA damage repair.
SIRT2 may function as a tumor suppressor in human gliomas and serve as a molecular marker for these cells.
It also acts as a redox sensor regulating muscle gene expression in response to food intake and exercise.
During mitosis, SIRT2 participates in the phosphorylation cascade and is phosphorylated in late G2 phase, M phase, and cytokinesis.
