Product Specific Information
The 53-2.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD90.2 (Thy-1.2), a GPI-linked membrane molecule expressed by mouse thymocytes, mature T cells, and neurons in CD90.2-expressing strains such as BALB/c, CBA, C3H, C57BL/6, C58, and SJL. Cells from CD90.1-expressing strains (e.g., PL, AKR) do not stain with 53-2.1. CD90 is involved in regulation of adhesion and signal transduction by T cells.
Each product contains:
- 1 vial of NovaFluor conjugate
- 1 vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤0.4 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.
Important Notes:
- NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
- Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for viability testing with NovaFluor dyes.
- CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) is required for optimal staining.
- Add 5 µL per sample before combining with cells.
- For single-color controls: add 5 µL per 100 µL cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).
NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton™ technology, providing engineered fluorescent signatures optimized for minimal spillover and spread.

Target Information
CD90.2 (Thy-1) is a GPI-linked glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. It plays roles in cell-cell and cell-ligand interactions during neural development and other biological processes. In mice, CD90.2 is expressed on all thymocytes and peripheral T lymphocytes.
