Product Specific Information

This antibody specifically recognizes the 85 kDa fragment of cleaved PARP and can be used as a marker for detecting apoptotic cells. It has been validated in western blotting and immunostaining applications. Positive controls include Jurkat or HeLa cells treated with staurosporine or etoposide (25 µM for 3 hours).


Target Information

Poly ADP-Ribose Polymerase (PARP) utilizes NAD (oxidized form) as a substrate to transfer ADP-ribose to nuclear protein acceptors. Proteolytic cleavage of PARP to its stable 85 kDa fragment is an early marker of apoptosis, mediated by the caspase CPP32 protein. Cleavage occurs between Asp216 and Gly217, a conserved site across species.
