ERp72는 소포체 내강 단백질로 스트레스 단백질이자 단백질 디설파이드 이성화효소(PDI) 계열에 속합니다. ERp72는 PDI와 세 구역에서 서열 유사성을 가지며, C-말단에 ER 유지 신호 KEEL을 포함합니다. 또한 CGHC 활성 부위를 세 개 포함하고 있어 단백질 디설파이드 이성화 과정에 중요하게 작용합니다. 이러한 특성으로 ERp72는 CGHC를 포함한 단백질 가족의 새로운 구성원으로서 분자 샤페론 기능을 수행합니다.
