Target Information

The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
His tag is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable isolation or purification using immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins for which no specific antibody exists by fusing a known epitope sequence.
His-tagged proteins are purified efficiently due to strong and selective chelation between histidine clusters and Ni²⁺ ions on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection and co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
