Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. ABC proteins mediate transport of various molecules across cellular membranes and are divided into seven subfamilies: ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, and White.
MRP6, a member of the MRP subfamily, is associated with multidrug resistance. Mutations in this gene cause pseudoxanthoma elasticum. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different proteins have been described.
