This clone recognizes both the large and the small subunit of rRNA from all eukaryotic cells.
MA1-13017 has been successfully used in immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence applications.
The MA1-13017 immunogen is derived from whole ribosomal rRNA 5.8S.
Target Information
rRNA (ribosomal RNA) is a major structural component of ribosomes, providing the mechanism for decoding mRNA into amino acids and proteins during translation.
It ensures accurate positioning of mRNA and peptidyl tRNA, and contributes structurally to peptidyl transferase activity by forming scaffolds for ribosomal protein assembly.
rRNA is synthesized in the nucleolus within the nucleus, containing genes essential for rRNA encoding.
Defective rRNA expression has been associated with pathologies such as myelodysplastic syndromes and Alzheimer’s disease.
