Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan nuclear hormone receptor. Members of the ERR family share a highly conserved DNA-binding domain with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to an ERRα response element (ERRE) containing a single consensus half-site (5'-tnaaggtca-3') and can interact with the medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) response element NRRE-1. It acts as a metabolic regulator, predominantly expressed in tissues metabolizing fatty acids. The corresponding gene is NR3B1.
