Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IFN-beta. Anti-Human IFN-beta-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human IFN-beta matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human IFN-beta by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human IFN-beta (500-P32BBt) as a detection antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IFN-beta.

Western Blot:
To detect Human IFN-beta by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, detection limit for Recombinant Human IFN-beta is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Type I Interferons (IFN-alpha/beta) are produced primarily in response to viral infection by Natural IFN-producing cells (IPCs) as part of the host immune response. IFNs can also inhibit tumor development. IFN-beta binding activates tyrosine kinases Jak1 and Tyk2, phosphorylates STAT transcription factors, and induces immune response gene expression. Members of the toll-like receptor (TLR) family also stimulate IFN-beta production. Clinically, IFN-beta is used for treatment of tumors, infections, and multiple sclerosis.
