Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to 20 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of mouse ICAD.
PEP-0018 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-19890.
Target Information
ICAD (Inhibitor of Caspase-3-Activated DNase) acts as a substrate controlling nuclear apoptosis. It has two isoforms:
- ICAD-L/DFF45 (45 kDa): Functional isoform
- ICAD-S/DFF35 (35 kDa): Non-functional isoform
ICAD binds and inhibits CAD (Caspase-Activated DNase). During apoptosis, caspase-3 cleaves ICAD at residues 117 and 224, releasing CAD to execute DNA fragmentation.
ICAD also functions as a CAD-specific folding chaperone and has been identified as a potential target for restoring apoptotic signaling in colon and brain cancer cells.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for the ICAD gene.
