Target Information
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins encoded by this gene are associated with essential hypertension and obesity. The GNB3 polymorphism is linked to the occurrence of the splice variant GNB3-s, which exhibits increased activity. GNB3-s represents an alternative splicing event caused by a nucleotide change outside the splice donor and acceptor sites. Additional splice variants may exist but are not fully characterized.
