NEK1은 NIMA 세포 주기 조절 인자와 관련된 세린/트레오닌 단백질 키나아제로, 감수분열 생식세포에서 높게 발현됩니다.
이 키나아제는 DNA 손상 반응 경로의 초기 단계에서 기능할 수 있으며, 다낭성 신장 질환 및 신경 세포 발달에도 관여할 수 있습니다.
대부분의 구성원과 마찬가지로, 이 단백질은 N-말단의 pleckstrin homology 도메인과 고도로 보존된 C-말단 OSBP-like sterol-binding 도메인을 포함합니다.
