Target Information

Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine- and threonine-specific protein kinases activated by calcium and diacylglycerol. PKC family members phosphorylate diverse protein targets and participate in various cellular signaling pathways. They act as receptors for phorbol esters, known tumor promoters. Each PKC family member exhibits distinct expression and functional roles.
The PRKD3 kinase can be rapidly activated by agonists of G protein-coupled receptors, localizes in both cytoplasm and nucleus, and shows enhanced nuclear accumulation upon activation. It can also be activated following B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) engagement, requiring intact phospholipase C gamma and other PKC family members.
