Galectin 3는 IgE에 결합하는 갈락토스 특이적 렉틴으로, CSPG4에 의해 유도되는 내피세포 이동에 관여하며 DMBT1과 함께 상피세포의 분화에 필수적입니다. 핵 내에서는 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱 인자로 작용합니다. 또한 급성 염증 반응, 호중구 활성화, 단핵구와 대식세포의 화학주성, 세포사멸 호중구의 옵소닌화, 비만세포 활성화 등에 관여합니다.
