Target Information
이 유전자는 cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) 계열에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. Caspase의 연속적 활성화는 세포자멸사(apoptosis)의 실행 단계에서 중심적인 역할을 합니다. Caspase는 일반적으로 prodomain, large 및 small protease subunit으로 구성된 비활성 전구체(proenzyme) 형태로 존재하며, 내부의 보존된 aspartic 잔기에서 절단되어 활성 heterodimer를 형성합니다. 이 caspase는 자체 전구체와 caspase-1 전구체를 절단 및 활성화할 수 있으며, 과발현 시 세포자멸사를 유도합니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 이소폼이 생성됩니다.
