Target Information
ELL is an elongation factor component of the super elongation complex (SEC), which increases the catalytic rate of RNA polymerase II transcription by suppressing transient pausing at multiple sites along DNA.
It is also a component of the little elongation complex (LEC), regulating small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene transcription by RNA polymerase II and III.
ELL plays an early role before SEC assembly by stabilizing RNA polymerase II recruitment/initiation and entry into the pause site, thereby stabilizing the pre-initiation complex and early elongation.
