Target Information
Elongation factor component of the super elongation complex (SEC), required to increase the catalytic rate of RNA polymerase II transcription by suppressing transient pausing at multiple sites along DNA.
Also part of the little elongation complex (LEC), regulating small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene transcription by RNA polymerase II and III.
ELL stabilizes RNA polymerase II recruitment/initiation and entry into the pause site, playing an early role before SEC assembly.
