Target Information
CXCR2 is a receptor for interleukin-8, a powerful neutrophil chemotactic factor. It belongs to the GPCR family. Binding of IL-8 to the receptor activates neutrophils through a G-protein-mediated phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. This receptor binds IL-8, GRO/MGSA, and NAP-2 with high affinity, and is expressed in various tissues. ESTs have been isolated from human placenta and thymus libraries.
