MA1-440 detects apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease (APE/ref-1) from human, non-human primate, canine, mouse, and rat samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemical, flow cytometry, and immunoprecipitation procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a 36 kDa protein representing APE/ref-1 in HeLa cell lysate.
Immunohistochemical staining of APE/ref-1 in various normal and cancerous human tissues (ovaries, cervix, prostate, germ cell tumors, osteosarcomas, rhabdosarcomas) shows nuclear staining patterns.
The immunogen is full-length recombinant human APE protein.

Target Information

Mammalian apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease (APE/ref-1) is a multifunctional enzyme involved in DNA repair and redox regulation of transcription factors such as Fos, Jun, NF-κB, Myb, HIF-1α, CREB, Pax, and p53.
APE repairs abasic sites in DNA and is implicated in oxidative signaling, cell cycle control, and apoptosis.
It is differentially expressed across tissues and development stages, with nuclear localization and phosphorylation regulation via casein kinase II.
Expression levels of APE increase upon reoxygenation of hypoxic cells and in certain malignant tissues, while decreases are associated with apoptosis induction.
