Target Information
Angiopoietins are members of the vascular endothelial growth factor family and are growth factors specific for vascular endothelium. Angiopoietin-1, -2, and -4 participate in blood vessel formation. The protein encoded by this gene (ANGPTL1) is widely expressed in adult tissues, particularly in highly vascularized ones, and acts as a secretory protein not functioning as an endothelial cell mitogen in vitro.
