Product Specific Information
In Western blot, a band is observed in hypoxic samples at approximately 30 and 60 kDa, representing the BNIP3 protein.
Non-specific bands may also be present.
It is recommended to run normoxic samples alongside hypoxic samples as a negative control.
Target Information
NIP3 is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects against virally induced cell death, and with BCL2-like sequences that also serve as apoptotic protectors.
NIP3 contains a BH3 domain and a transmembrane domain associated with pro-apoptotic function.
This dimeric mitochondrial protein induces apoptosis even in the presence of BCL2.
