Target Information
Myosin binding protein C, cardiac-type (MYBPC3) is a thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle A bands.
It binds MHC, F-actin, and native thin filaments in vitro, and modifies the activity of actin-activated myosin ATPase.
MYBPC3 may modulate muscle contraction or play a structural role.
Mutations in this gene can result in:
- Cardiomyopathy, familial hypertrophic 4
- Cardiomyopathy, dilated 1MM
- Left ventricular non-compaction 10
