Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

MERTK (cMER) is a tyrosine kinase proto-oncogene involved in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) phagocytosis, which is related to retinal disease. It regulates cell survival, migration, differentiation, and efferocytosis. Ligand binding induces autophosphorylation, enabling downstream signaling via GRB2 or PLCG2, and activation of MAPK1, MAPK2, FAK/PTK2, or RAC1. MERTK signaling contributes to macrophage clearance of apoptotic cells, platelet aggregation, cytoskeleton reorganization, and RPE-mediated rod outer segment phagocytosis. It also inhibits Toll-like receptor (TLR)-mediated innate immune responses by activating STAT1, leading to selective induction of SOCS1 and SOCS3.
