Target Information
Peripheral Myelin Protein 22 (PMP22) is a 160 amino acid glycoprotein belonging to the claudin family, playing an important role in the structure of peripheral nerve myelin. Genetic irregularities in PMP22 are associated with hereditary demyelinating neuropathies. PMP22 is found in the compact myelin of adult human peripheral nerves, with distribution similar to Myelin Protein Zero (P0).
