Target Information
Serum albumin is a globular unglycosylated protein of approximately 65 kDa, serving as the main plasma protein. It binds water, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, playing a crucial role in maintaining colloidal osmotic pressure in blood. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, which undergoes cleavage to produce proalbumin and subsequently secreted albumin.
