Target Information
Serum albumin is a globular unglycosylated protein of approximately 65 kDa and is the main protein component of plasma. It exhibits strong binding capacity for water, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, playing a crucial role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, which undergoes sequential processing to proalbumin and finally to secreted albumin.
