Target Information
This potassium channel is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels preferentially allow potassium influx rather than efflux. Their voltage dependence is modulated by extracellular potassium concentration, shifting channel opening to more positive voltages as external potassium increases. The inward rectification is mainly due to blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. This receptor is essential in regulating cardiac rhythm.
